A virtual 3-part series collaboration with astronomy education colleagues for astro-curious Earthlings who would like to learn more about the magic of astronomy through observation, self-expression, and ritual to deepen their personal connections to the cosmos. More information coming soon.
What would my middle school self love? This. This is an idea I have for an in-person immersive weekend retreat for mother-daughter pairs, broadly defined, including aunties and non-blood kin who want to develop intergenerational cosmic bonds through shared learning, observation, storytelling, and art. I applied for a grant to help me advance this idea. It wasn't selected this round, but perhaps in the future. If you'd like to stay in touch about this idea if/when it becomes a reality, please fill out this form.
I'm available for interactive in-person (local to Huntsville and throughout Alabama) and virtual presentations focused on astronomy, physics, and climate change that can fit into a typical class period. I have given presentations titled "Stellar Explosions" and "Cosmic Detective" through the Legacy Teen Science Cafe program, "Climate Change Solutions: Finding Your Role" for AAUW Tech Trek, "Humanity and the Stars" for a private high school group of girls, "Becoming an Earth and Space Science Educational Consultant" for college engineering students, and more. I can work with you to identify a topic that fits your educational needs.
Evening stargazing experience that can be incorporated into a larger event you may be planning or just as a special personal experience for your family or friends. I will show you how a telescope works and how to read a star chart, and we will see what we can find in the night sky with my 8-inch telescope. Please reach out and we can design an experience that works for you. Note you may also reach out to members of various Astronomy Clubs as well. Many amateur astronomers have more advanced tools and knowledge than I have about telescope technology, and they are often happy to volunteer!
